Volunteers and organisations needed for Maidstone's Eco Hub this August
Maidstone Borough Council (MBC) is on the lookout for volunteers and organisations to help run and be part of a pop-up Eco Hub during August which will be located in a currently empty retail unit in the town centre.
Maidstone’s Eco Hub will help anyone who may be confused, sceptical or unsure where to start with becoming more environmentally aware and sustainable. People will be able to drop by for advice, resources, and to find out about solutions, products and services already available that can help them become more sustainable.
Cllr David Burton, Leader of MBC said:
Following the success of a similar centre we opened last year we have been lucky enough to secure another unit in The Mall which will open during the summer school break. Our new Eco Hub will open three days a week between 10am and 4pm. We would really love to find local volunteers who are passionate about climate change, to give out information on how to reduce carbon footprints, sustainable products, reducing energy costs, answering questions and offering advice.
We are also looking for local sustainable businesses to come along and demonstrate their goods and services for free and help provide some fun sessions for children.
If you have products and services you would like to showcase, or you would like to volunteer and be part of this exciting new project please get in touch.
The Maidstone Eco Hub will hold interesting talks and fun family activities and be open between Thursday 3 August and Friday 8 September. It will open three days a week between 10am and 4pm.
It is planned to open the Hub on a Wednesday, Thursday and a Friday one week or Thursday, Friday and Saturday alternate weeks.
