Everyone invited to help nature in Kent
In September The UK’s State of Nature Report 2023 was published, detailing the status of our wildlife. The report highlighted “The UK is now one of the most nature-depleted countries on Earth."
A nature recovery scheme called Making Space for Nature in Kent and Medway will work with partners and stakeholders to collaboratively establish shared priorities for the delivery of nature recovery and environmental improvements, in order to create a network of wildlife-rich places across the county. This local nature recovery strategy will be one of 48 – together these will cover the whole of England, with no gaps or overlaps, to deliver the government’s commitment to ending the decline of nature and supporting its recovery.
Making Space for Nature in Kent & Medway needs everyone’s input and there will be many opportunities to get involved throughout the course of the project.
The project will run a series of surveys, to directly hear as many views as possible as work progresses and the Strategy takes shape. Whilst the framework for the project delivery is established, and in advance of the project launch, Making Space for Nature in Kent & Medway want to hear why the county’s nature is important to you. Complete the survey here.
