Mowing for Wildlife

Inline with our commitment to "A10 - extend No Mow May initiative across other open spaces and parks with installation of interpretation boards to explain benefits and encourage others to follow the initiative", we have:

  • increased our naturalisation mowing regime (up to 2 cuts per year compared to an average 14) from 62,089sqm in 2024 to 186,389sqm in 2025. This was achieved by increasing our number of sites on naturalisation mowing, and implementing a new  'no mow' perimeter around all trees on MBC land across the Borough.
  • Investigated no mow signage to educate residents on the maintenance regimes of the sites and their environmental benefits - this is currently in progress
  • Delivered a wildflower hydroseeding project in Mallards Way.
