Strategic Waste Capture

We are trialling new waste capture solutions to help protect our waterways from waste. In 2025, we put a call out to local businesses for expressions of interest in creating a prototype drain sock for this purpose. A local business responded to the call, and we have designed a drain sock that is designed to capture waste from the town centre prior to entering the Medway.

Rights of Nature In October 2025, a motion was put to Council stating: 'This Council will explore measures to embed the rights of nature in policy and practice where this is possible and practical to do.' A full report for this motion is being developed and will be supplied in the coming months.
