Strategic Waste Capture

We are investigating new waste capture solutions to help protect our waterways from waste. In 2025, we put a call out to local businesses for expressions of interest in creating a prototype drain sock for this purpose. A local business responded to the call, and we are currently in discussions with them to identify suitable trial sites and creation of solutions that protect wildlife, improve our waterways, and are safe and suitable to handle for maintenance and repair.

Rights of Nature In October 2025, a motion was put to Council stating: 'This Council will explore measures to embed the rights of nature in policy and practice where this is possible and practical to do.' A full report for this motion is being developed and will be supplied in the coming months.
