Green Economy

We are now fully tracking our Scope 3 emissions. From this information, we have been able to commence several activities. The first is active engagement with our highest emitting suppliers, to work with them to improve their efforts toward decarbonisation and net zero.

Our top 10 suppliers account for almost half of the council's emissions. So we are working directly with these suppliers to ensure they are aligned with our net-zero commitment. Through this work, we have accelerated our net-zero trajectory by an estimated 65 months. We will continue to work with our top suppliers to ensure we are tracking actual emissions against annual targets.

We have also begun internal actions to identify efficiencies, sustainable alternatives, and reduced deliveries. So far, our facilities team has reduced deliveries from weekly to 3-weekly.
